My name is Jessica.  I am the photographer, artist, maker, and owner of Jessica Rogers Photography.  Inspired by details, texture, and aged objects, I constantly strive to reveal the shared emotions in the simple splendors that fill the world around me.

Since I discovered my love of photography in college, all I have wanted to do is share the way I see the world with people.  I didn’t know how or, quite frankly, have the courage to put my work out there for a number of years. In 2009, on a friend’s suggestion, I looked into and launched my online store to sell my prints.  That crucial first step got me past my fear and spurred my creativity, leading me to develop more functional items with my art, including greeting cards, tote bags, calendars, and more.  In 2011, in addition to selling online, I started lining up a show or two a year and selling at local markets and fairs.  I discovered how much I love meeting my customers and talking about my art and I added more markets to my schedule the following year.  In 2012 I revamped my online store to create a more streamlined shopping experience for you.

Creating art to share my vision with you is what drives me.

Fill that empty space on your wall with a piece of art you love.

Whether you buy art that coordinates with your decor or design a room around the art, you ultimately choose a piece because it speaks to you on a personal level.  I love to create art pieces that not only stand alone to convey a mood or emotion, but also work well together as a series of images.  If you decide to buy several prints at once or build your collection over time, you can rest assured you will have a set that looks great together.  If you’re not sure where to start, simply contact me – I can help you put together a custom collection for your unique space!

I have so many ways to help you incorporate what you love into your everyday life.

Fill your life with beautiful things to inspire you to appreciate the small wonders.

The intimate nature of my images paired with a hand written note on one of my greeting cards is an extra special way to show your loved ones how much you care.  I believe that art can also be functional, like my canvas tote bags, zip pouches, or fabric coasters.

On a personal note…

I find things to photograph in many places (from my backyard in Napa, CA, to road trips across the US), but the magic of the final piece happens at my home studio in California.  My work has a strong foundation from my formal training, having received my B.S. in Photography in 2001, and is influenced by my love of a variety of self-taught alternative techniques – including 10 years working solely with Polaroid Transfers.  With over 15 years of working with both film and digital photography in a professional capacity, I apply my highly trained and experienced eye to every stage of the process.  The vision I have for each image only begins with creating the image in my camera.  This is why I choose to do every step myself; from editing and printing, to matting and packaging the final pieces.  My hope is that you will incorporate my art into your life and be inspired to hold on to your sense of wonder as much as I have been by creating it.

I’m Jessica, photographer/artist/maker and owner of Jessica Rogers Photography.  Inspired by details, texture and aged objects, I constantly strive to reveal the shared emotions and simple splendors that fill the world around us.

After being let go from a job I was no longer satisfied with, it occurred to me that I needed a change.  But what did I really want most?  I wanted a job that would allow me to use my photography skills  and creativity as well as give me room to grow.  The more I pondered what job fit my unique skill set and my quickly growing wish list, the more it became clear I needed to be my own boss.  On a friend’s suggestion, I looked into and started my own Etsy store.  Thrilled to finally be on the path I knew I belonged, I filled my store with prints of all my favorite images.  That first crucial step lent purpose to my creativity, leading  me to develop more functional items with my art, including greeting cards, calendars, and – my personal favorite – fabric photo bookmarks.

Now, creating art for you and sharing my vision with you is what fuels me each and every day.  I am overflowing with new ideas for ways I can help you incorporate art into your everyday life.

There is an empty space on your wall.  You’re looking for a piece of art that you can connect with.  Even if the purpose for that piece of art is to coordinate with your decor you still choose it because it speaks to you on a deeper level.  My art will fill not only that space on your wall, but your deeper need to reflect your personality or to simply meditate on pleasant memories.  I love to create pieces that not only stand alone to convey a mood or emotion, but also work well together as a collection of images.   Go a step further – infuse your everyday life with my art to inspire you and others to take some time to appreciate the small wonders in life.  The intimate nature of my images paired with a hand written note on one of my greeting cards is an extra special way to show your loved ones how much you care.  And if a picture is worth a thousand words, my handmade fabric photo bookmarks might just tell their own story as well as being a unique placeholder.
